H22 vs b16 vs b Thread starter afoss Start date Mar 18, Which motor is best and why? Depends on what your goals and budget are. Use the search engine. Forget New Member. As the old saying goes, theres no replacement for displacement, and when hondas come into play, the h22 is a big block.

There is a lot of power to come out of these engines when boosted with lower compression pistons. Others would perfer a b18 to a h22 as their more common and there is a lot more info about them all over the internet. LowTegra Posted May 25, Posted May 26, Depends on what you mean by parts You can buy basically anything you need in terms of engine mods for the H22A.

But yeah it's probably harder to swap an H22A in yo car. They're both expensive to buy these days. Posted May 27, H22A is too heavy. The B18 block can be bored out to over cc anyways.

The B18 block also has more potential as it likes to rev more etc. And yes, generally parts are more easily accessible for B series engines. The thing ran perfect for all those years. Never gave him any problems. That was on a stock LX, no sleeves no vtec. There is a ton of info out there. Let us know if your from east or western Canada. He also tuned that integra. Last edited by smithby; at AM.

I saw a mom the other day with 2 car seats in the back driving a Turbo B-series civic. VTEC doesnt matter if your boosted Even in All-Motor the H has not the best engine if your looking for the proven set up. I believe there was a H there but I think it was in the high 10's. The B18 is the proven work horse. OP, what you should do is read, read, read, then write your goals on a piece of paper, then make a list below it of what you think you need to get there with prices.

Then decide if this is something you have the bankroll for. Warning, this becomes like a drug, you will become an addict. Don't worry matt, talking out of that part of our body's is what the internet is for LOL I used to think there was no replacement of displacement too.

But when you add a big turbo GT35R to a D16 and feel it spin the tires in the top end of 3rd and 4th gear. It kind of wakes you up. The sound is amazing. The main point here is, there is more then one way to go fast.

As long as your looking to go faster, we should all respect your choice in how you get there. Originally Posted by smithby.
